Chicago Police Officer Thomas E. Wortham IV, Star # 6181, was murdered during an armed robbery attempt near his family's home in the 8400 Block of South Martin Luther King Drive. Officer Wortham was able to return fire during the attack, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced shortly after midnight May 20th, 2010. Officer Wortham joined the Chicago Police Department in June 2007 and served with distinction in the Englewood District. He aslo served our country as a First Lieutenant in the Army National Guard and most recently completed a tour of duty in Iraq on March 30, 2010.
